How We Research Every Brand Before Writing a VYDToday Review
A behind-the-scenes look at what goes into every guide we publish
A lot of deal sites just repost a discount code and call it a day. That's never been the approach at VYDToday. Every brand we cover goes through the same research process before a single word gets written — and we think that process is worth explaining.
Starting With the Source
The first step is always the brand's own website. We go straight to the source to understand the full product lineup, materials, sizing, and positioning — not just the specific item featured in a deal. This gives us the full picture of what a brand actually offers, beyond whatever single product got the spotlight.
From there, we look at the brand's dedicated storefront, which is where the actual deal pricing lives. This is the authoritative source for current offers, discounts, and deal-specific details, while the main site fills in the deeper product information. Comparing the two side by side is how we catch the difference between a genuine deal and a price that's simply been marked up before being marked down.
Mapping the Competition
Once we understand the brand itself, we look outward. Every review includes a comparison against similar products from other companies — usually three competitors — so readers aren't just taking our word for it that something is a good deal. We're looking at how a product's pricing, features, and quality actually stack up against the alternatives already on the market.
Organizing What We Find
Research only matters if it's usable, so every brand gets slotted into a clear category — Electronics & Accessories, Beauty & Fitness, Apparel, Home & Kitchen, or Outdoor — and organized into a consistent structure: a breakdown of the product categories, a section explaining why the brand is worth buying, a straightforward pros-and-cons list, and a final verdict that ties everything together.
We also double check the technical details that readers never see but that matter for whether a piece actually gets found — things like verifying a meta description sits in the right character range before it goes live.
Why It Matters
None of this makes for a faster process. It would be a lot quicker to just grab a discount code and publish it. But the whole point of VYDToday is that a deal is only worth writing about if it's actually a good one — and the only way to know that is to do the research first.
